Champion skeet shooter Mike Amy, 73, of Beaumont, Texas, had a partial seizure on Aug. 3rd, 2019. The once enthusiastic grandfather didn’t feel himself that day. His typically accurate shooting was off, and his wife, Debbie, had started to feel nervous about his driving. “He was starting to drive and park inaccurately, so I made the suggestion that I take the driving over,” she says.
Mike had also seemed to lose interest in family since that partial seizure. “It was sad for the grandkids because Mike was always Facetiming or playing cards with them and solving everyone’s problems,” says Debbie, “But then on this visit a couple of weeks after the incident, Mike just didn’t want to socialize. One of the kids said, ‘Is he mad at me?’”
After a few days Debbie asked him: “Do you feel bad?” and he told her he “just didn’t feel up to” connecting. He also felt that the seizure was affecting his shooting, she recalls.
After more than a month of this odd behavior, Debbie took Mike to see a neurologist, who confirmed that he had suffered some cognitive injury from a partial seizure. After exhausting conventional treatments, the neurologist mentioned Kat James’ leptin-focused program.
