It’s challenging to be pet parents when you live in a rented property, especially when they want to do it professionally. Doctor Supranee Mathiprechakul and lawyer Cherrylene Lee previously shared a rental property with their seven-year-old Border Collie. Then they fell in love with British Shorthair cats, so much that Cherry decided to breed them as a side business in 2017. It was one of the main reasons the couple decided to buy their own home.
They found the perfect unit in Cavenagh Gardens. Built in 1976, the five-room condo has good bones and enough space to live, work and breed cats. Tasked with designing the home was Serene Tan from INTR Studio. “Cherry found me through Instagram,” shares Serene, who started her design practice last year. Cherry liked the vibe of one of the projects Serene did for her old company, and wanted a similar Scandinavian sensibility – minimalist but playful and warm vibe for her home.
Cherry and Sup requested a stylish but low-maintenance material palette and ample storage to store their sport and pet-related items. The layout must also incorporate feng shui elements. The old condo was the perfect canvas, as it allowed greater freedom in terms of architectural alterations.
