INTERIOR DESIGNER MONICA CHAWLA’S DESIGN FOR THE KUNDLI RESIDENCE IN SONEPAT, HARYANA REDEFINES LUXURY.
A way from the hustle-bustle of the capital city is the Kundli residence in Sonepat, Haryana, which is a perfect space to sit back and unwind. Spread across 28,800 sq. ft., the farmhouse is designed by Monica Chawla, Interior Designer and Creative Head at Essential Environments. This multi-storeyed home has a basement, ground, first, second floor and a terrace.
Ask Monica, what kind of home, the owners desired, she says, “The owners desired a house that exuded openness, yet offered a sense of peaceful solitude for the family and their guests.”
Explaining the design concept, Monica shares, “The design was achieved through intelligent space planning and by bringing in a consistent palette of surfaces, colours, textures, accessories and materials. The entire home has a warm and subtle tone. Statuario and Burberry beige natural stones overlay the floor inside the structure. A sense of calm and seamlessness was achieved by providing a waterbody on each floor. Following the holiday theme, the abode has exceptionally large bathrooms offering a Jacuzzi bath, television and a lush view. Lighting and furniture are designed and manufactured by the in-house production facility at Essential, showing the sumptuous use of rose gold metal, streamlined modish furniture and interesting use of leather and fabric.”
To give the abode an element of zest, it includes a guesthouse and a spa located in the middle of the garden, which despite of being isolated from the main building still edges the open-air swimming pool. It is built as a gathering space for family and friends.
