Ar. Jagdish Mistry Has Designed an Innovative Yet Seamless Office-cum-display Centre for Crystal.
What is the toughest part of designing a space? Is it the allocation of functional areas within the space or the selection of materials? When I pose these questions to Ar. Jagdish Mistry, he simply says, “Neither one of these.” The hardest task according to him is convincing the client to think beyond the box. This is the reason why the office of Crystal, in Mumbai has a unique design identity.
Located in Chakala, Andheri, the office - cum - display centre is spread over an area of 8,500 sq. ft. designed by Ar. Jagdish Mistry of Jagdish Mistry and Associates, colours and graphic consultancy, Neha Mistry, the space is seamlessly divided into display center and workspace area.
One admires the extensive use of glass to create a spacious look. Adding insight on the design nuances Jagdish adds, “The brief from the client was appropriate utilization of space, where both the office and the display function independently keeping the convenience of the customers in mind.”
The office space is divided into the reception area, board room, workspace, executive cabins, CEO, MD and Director’s cabin and the display center.
The spacious reception area is characterised by warm and inviting wood and cream colour scheme. The architect opted for minimal furniture. One of the walls has imprints the brands journey over the years. The brand name is aesthetically highlighted behind the reception area.
