When Mumbai-based author Bilal Siddiqi started penning his first book, The Bard of Blood, his mentor – crime writer S Hussain Zaidi – gave him concrete advice: Make each scene as cinematic as possible. Fast forward to 2019, and that piece of advice seems to have helped. Siddiqi’s spy thriller will be brought to life as a new Netflix original series (it will be out on September 27). The show, which is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, is set against the backdrop of the Indian subcontinent. The eight-part multilingual series will follow expelled spy Kabir Anand, who is recalled from his new life as a Shakespeare professor in Panchgani to save his country and long-lost love. We caught up with the two stars of the series, Emraan Hashmi and Sobhita Dhulipala, andhere’s what they had to say.
