Country duo American Young have now toured the UK so many times, it’s become like a second home, Megan Gnad speaks to the band about their experiences
It might be their fifth time across the pond and second European tour in 2017, yet this will be their first time headlining the entire leg of the 11-date tour.
When the Nashville pair – made up of songwriter/musician, Kristy Osmunson, and songwriter/producer, Jon Stone - speak about their upcoming stops in Switzerland, London, Netherlands, and Norway to promote the recently released debut album, AY, they can barely contain their excitement.
“I love London,” says Kristy. “The people are amazing, the food is so good, and the live music – there’s a massive thirst for real musicians. London feels like a sister city, it’s like a portal.
“To experience the world and music, it’s incredible.”
Jon agrees saying the connection with European audiences is hard to describe and replicate.
“The energy, the enthusiasm—it’s so much fun to be able to bring our passion to Europe, and for the fans to be so welcoming,” he said.
Previous trips meant they had the opportunity to play The O2 for C2C, Under The Apple Tree and Bush Hall with High Valley, but this time around they will be taking the lead.
The release of their debut album, AY, in late 2016 was a defining moment for the experienced songwriters who penned 11 of the 12 tracks.
The record features their first single, Love is War, along with tracks such as God Sends a Train – the true story of Kristy’s who mother was hit by a train but lived and eventually walked again - and Something to You.
