Behavioural research shows exercising with your partner or friend doesn't just offer more accountability, but can lead to a healthier lifestyle, too. We list a few reasons why you should train with a loved one.
Mom and business owner, Sue Duminy and her husband, Proteas all-rounder, JP have been training together for 10 years and they say that it has helped to keep their relationship open and honest. Exercising is not a simple task for most – you’ll find it easier to sleep in for an extra 30 minutes, than get up for the gym. But when accountability is involved, the chances of waking up and getting moving increases. Here are our top five reasons why embarking on a fitness journey with a partner is better:
1 LAUGH AND SHARE IN THE PAIN
Exercise can be fun – it doesn’t have to be a gruelling solo experience where you question whether it’s really worth it. When training with your partner or friend, you get to catch up – if you think you’re about to give up, just laugh about the pain. Remember, laughter releases endorphins, giving you that extra push you need.
2 STRESS RELIEF
