While September brought with it the news that Don Broco would be headlining Slam Dunk 2020, the festival has just confirmed that the Bedford rockers won’t be alone at the top of the bill: pop-punk heroes Sum 41 are also joining them. It’s also been revealed that Billy Talent, The Used, The Story So Far, Basement, Dream State and Grayscale will be appearing in the fields of Hatfield and Leeds in May.
If that weren’t enough, Slam Dunk have even managed to get pop-punks We Are The In Crowd and hardcore favourites Your Demise to reform for some special shows at 2020’s event. They join the previously-announced State Champs, Mayday Parade, Four Year Strong, Motion City Soundtrack, The Wonder Years, Bayside, Knuckle Puck and more.
In the Sum 41 camp, 2019 has already proved to be massive – with the Slam Dunk news topping off a year that’s seen them release their awesome seventh album, Order In Decline, play a run of killer UK shows, and even celebrate the 15th anniversary of their classic 2004 LP, Chuck.
With the band currently touring the U.S. with The Amity Affliction and The Plot In You, we caught up with frontman Deryck Whibley, and asked him what Sum 41 have got in store for Slam Dunk, and how excited they are to be heading back to Britain next year…
How does it feel to be announced as coheadliners of Slam Dunk 2020, Deryck?
