Preston seek to capitalise on move

Let's Train And Gain, Says Paul

Veteran Preston North End midfielder Paul Gallagher says having state-of-the-art facilities is pointless if it does not lead to improvements on the pitch.

The Lilywhites moved into a new training complex at Euxton on Wednesday, ending a 25year stay at Springfields.

Purchased from Wigan for £1.6m in the summer, it has ice baths, gym facilities and, according to gaffer Alex Neil, will make it easier for his players to socialise.

Owner’s representative Peter Ridsdale has already piled on the pressure, saying Preston have a Premier League stadium and a Premier League training ground.

“What we have to do is deliver that on the field now that we’ve delivered it off the field,” said the former Leeds United and Cardiff City chairman.

Neil gave characteristically short shrift to that statement.

“It’s easy to fling those comments out but it is much harder to get there,” said the Scot, who won promotion with Norwich City in 2015.
