Searle gets down to nitty gritty

Harrison Panayiotou’s 64th-minute winner was the Shots’ only effort on target in a lacklustre 90 minutes – but it was a goal that had been almost 12 months in the making.

County’s defeat at the EBB Stadium last November was sealed by a defensive error as the visitors tried to play out from the back, and Shots assistant manager Anwar Uddin admitted the memory had inspired their gameplan.

“We were setting traps. We knew they liked to play and get on the ball, so we wanted to press hard and I knew we’d get a chance if we continued that. It’s worked really well and we’ve scored almost the exact same goal.
