Boris Johnson will not give in to EU demands for a fishing rights compromise, Downing Street has insisted.

Brussels sources claimed the Prime Minister was edging towards a fudge on the bitter issue to break the UK-EU trade talks deadlock.

But Mr Johnson’s spokesman described the claims as “wishful thinking” yesterday as fishing industry leaders warned crews to prepare for French blockades of UK ports.

The latest trade row came as Mr Johnson’s Task Force Europe negotiating team began the fourth round of talks with its EU counterpart.
