The Ad-Vantages asked each candidate to share a bit about why they’re running and what they hope to accomplish.
Here are their answers.
Donna Brewer
Why are you interested in running for select board?
I am a native and a people person. I feel that I listen to people’s concerns and try to accommodate them as best I can. I would like to be a part of the projects that we are working on.
To preserve waterfront access for our fishermen. To provide affordable housing for working families in order to encourage families to come or stay here to work and educate their kids. The cost of trash removal is a big issue. Hopefully we can find a way to keep the cost from getting any higher. Sea level rise is a major issue. Keeping our Main Street vibrant and busy.
What changes do you hope to see in Stonington over the next five years, and what would you like to stay the same?
I want to be a part of improving services without forfeiting who we are and our way of life—working on the new playground, the new transmission line for the water company and a new standpipe. I am excited about working on the Odd Fellows property and enabling more waterfront access for our fishing fleet.
