The Sea Brings Me Tranquillity

Being close to the sea was a constant theme of Angela Noverraz’s childhood, so when she discovered this 1960s house, she knew it was a place to call home

The Sea Brings Me Tranquillity

Moving to a new home hundreds of miles away would be a daunting prospect for many people. But for Angela Noverraz, it held no fear.

As a child, Angela had an almost nomadic life, living in different countries, from Tunisia to Italy, as her father worked in hotel management. ‘The one thing that unites the best places I’ve lived is being near the sea,’ she says. ‘When we moved to Cornwall, it stemmed from an almost physical need to move back to the coast. The sea feels like home. It always brings me a feeling of peace and tranquillity.’

Angela has followed in her father’s footsteps and also works in the hotel industry. She met her husband, Olivier, while training at the Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland. Angela’s heritage is Italian and Dutch, while Olivier’s is Swiss and British and, as a couple, they both spent the next decade working for major hotel chains across Europe.

COME ON NOW, don't be silly...

When someone we love is anxious, often the first thing we do is to try and make it better. Sometimes that means we try to jolly them along and make them see that there is nothing to worry about, or we throw them a solution.

The world needs spirituality right now

When you meet a neuroscientist, you expect a certain kind of conversation. Complicated terms, difficult theories, and a residual feeling of confusion at the end of it. Not so with Dr Tara Swart.

Healthy mind, HEALTHY BODY?

It had been a long week. Multiple meetings, a work event that meant being out of the house for 16 hours straight, lots of deadlines to meet in-between. I was looking forward to a fun weekend when, wouldn't you know it, I started sneezing, then the dreaded tickly throat started. How ironic, the minute I could finally start to enjoy myself, I got ill.

ARE YOU DEALING WITH A SILENT saboteur?

The story of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, who died after eating a baguette containing sesame seeds, has always horrified me. Fully aware of her allergy, she was stringent about checking labels. But the sesame seeds were baked into the dough, and they weren't listed as an ingredient. After taking just a few fateful bites, there was little she could do.
