Harun Rahamad Doesn't Let A Little Physical Disability Hold Him Down.

Joie De Vivre

29 -year-old Harun Rahamad has lived with cerebral palsy all his life. A result of his premature birth, the condition is generally associated with impaired movement, abnormal reflexes, involuntary movements, unsteady walking, or some combination of these. But don’t tell him to take it slow. He is a soccer player, power lifter, and most recently, a Spartan racer.

“The catalyst for my Spartan racing interest goes back to when I was playing soccer,” Harun says. “I was hit with an ankle injury, and rather than risk getting further injured, I changed my interest to power lifting. It was during my training in the gym that I heard about Spartan racing. It was something different and adventurous but I thought was still within my physical abilities. I signed up for the first race in 2015, buoyed by pure enthusiasm. Of course, I would go on to regret not training properly for it!”

He finished the race, but failed to clear a few obstacles because of his lack of training. The event affirmed his choice however, and he decided that Spartan racing was exactly what he enjoyed doing.
