Soap Stones

|May 2019
Marsha Smith shows how to make gorgeous gemstone soaps that will have your bathroom looking and smelling divine.
WHAT YOU NEED
1kg block clear melt-and-pour soap base (see Marsha's Tips below)
1kg block white melt-and-pour soap base
1 or 2 microwaveable jugs l Microwave l Mica powders in various colours
Disposable plastic cups
Essential oil (fragrance of your choice)
Iceblock sticks
Silicone moulds – large block size and mini loaf size (available from Kmart & The Warehouse)
Sharp kitchen knife
Melt-and-pour soap-making is actually pretty simple. For these soaps, I firstly made blocks of solid colour. These were then cut into smaller pieces and mixed together with clear or white soap base to achieve multi-coloured and marbled effects. Once set, the soaps are cut into multi-faceted gemstone shapes. It may take a little trial and error to get your desired result, but that’s all part of the fun! The more you keep cutting and melting, the more interesting soap gems you’ll create.
