Our obsession with perfection and artificial beauty is deeply entrenched and manifests itself in myriad ways daily. So, the diametrically opposite concept of Wabi Sabi can catch one off guard. A Japanese philosophy that believes nothing can be perfect, permanent or complete, it encourages people to embrace natural ageing and cherish flaws, materialistic or otherwise. It’s also an idea that is slowly finding space in the décor industry in India, amidst shelves stocked with shiny, impeccable things.
