Naomie Harris may be in the running, but that hasn’t calmed her nerves!
This week is set to be memorable for London-born actress Naomie Harris. Having won a string of fans for her star turn as Bond’s miss moneypenny, Naomie has now landed her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting actress at the glitzy awards ceremony this Sunday. The actress has wowed critics and cinemagoers alike with her portrayal of a drug-addicted mum in critics’ favourite, Moonlight. Yet, despite her soaring global success, her feet are still clearly firmly on the ground and she chats away with refreshing honesty. Here the star, who turned 40 last year, opens up about walking the red carpet, embracing growing older, and why she doesn’t feel any pressure to have children.
‘I don’t get that nervous with red carpets any more. I used to get very nervous! Public speaking is the next hurdle I have to overcome. If I won the Oscar I’d be so nervous that I’d be quaking in my boots! I do get recognised more, but it’s not as bad as I initially feared. I was always scared of losing my anonymity, but people just say really positive things, which is nice.’
