Being able to put food on the table and send your kids to bed full is a privilege many take for granted. Yet for some desperate parents, their cupboards are bare, bank accounts empty and hearts broken because they simply can’t afford to feed their children. And we’re talking regular families– perhaps working single mums, dads on zero-hour contracts, or those waiting five weeks for Universal Credit to kick in. Often, these parents go hungry themselves first, before turning to food banks as a last resort.
