Don’t let mindless grazing undo your best eating intentions

At first glance, it’s been going so well. You’ve been going to the gym on the reg, eating three healthy meals a day, and kicking those fit-girl goals like a boss. OK, so there was that piece of toast you grabbed on the way to work, plus the protein bar you had to beat the 3pm slump. Oh, and the piece of brie you grazed on, along with that evening Tim Tam… let’s face it – you’re snaccident prone!

Amazingly, some studies suggest we’ve quadrupled our snack consumption in as little as 10 years. Forget that apple or muesli bar you used to have for morning tea – these days there’s an entire industry of grab-and-go snacks lining supermarket shelves. And while many of them claim to be healthy (or at least healthy-ish), it’s definitely raising some confusing mixed messages.
