There's a surprise win for a standout squad boasting tremendous girl power, and John Whitaker works his magic

CELEBRATIONS erupted as new squad Istanbul Warriors landed a milestone debut victory in Saturday’s Global Champions League (GCL) team competition.

The trio of 19-year-old Swiss rider Géraldine Straumann riding Long John Silver 3 – a former championship medal-winning ride for Dutch rider Jur Vrieling – and her Danish team-mates Andreas Schou and Zascha Nygaard Lill combined for a winning team score of four penalties across the two rounds. Andreas was aboard 10-year-old stallion Billy Matador, and Zascha partnered first Stanley and then second ride Primavera. “Long John Silver 3 is so consistent and a dream to have on my team,” said Warriors’ under-25 rider Géraldine.
