What's New at the Art Fair

Design gets a special space at this year’s India Art Fair, with the iconic Carpenters Workshop Gallery curating a section along with Ashiesh Shah.
What's New at the Art Fair

In the last 15 years, the India Art Fair has established itself as a tour de force, creating a solid representation of Indian art as well as promoting the business of art. This year, fair director Jaya Asokan is particularly thrilled about two things: the brand new design section that features seven key pioneers in limitededition and unique collectible design; and the debut of Carpenters Workshop Gallery (CWG), in collaboration with AD100 architect Ashiesh Shah. "This year's edition will see one of the biggest international contingents yet, a testament to the growing strength of India as an art and design destination," says Asokan. "To mark the 15th year, outside of our gallery presentations, we will have some of the most impressive artist projects yet, including a large digital display of a work by John Gerard brought to the fair by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and a massive installation by artist Jitish Kallat."

Colour appears as a sentient entity in Ibby Njoya's work. For the Cameroonian British artist and spatial designer, who burst onto the fashion scene for his experimental and often provocative visualisations, every hue carries an innate energy and elicits emotion.
