How much do you think it would cost to buy a racing Ferrari? Not some shonky old road car stripped out after the fact with an aftermarket roll cage installed, but a car designed, developed and built by Ferrari with no purpose in life other than to race? The answer is about £60,000, or about the same as a Volkswagen ID 5 with a few extras.
Surprised? Me too. But until now, there's not been much you can do with such cars. If you want to race an older classic Ferrari, you can do so with the Ferrari Owners' Club in anything from a 308 to an F355. And if you want to race a brandnew Ferrari, and have the many potatoes required to do so, you can race a new 488 Evo in the Ferrari Challenge one-make race series.
But what if you want something faster and more robust than a classic Ferrari, without the irisdilating costs of running and racing a brand-new one? It's a question ace independent specialist dealer and restorer Bell Sport & Classic decided to answer. It has devised a new Ferrari-only race series to sit between those run by the owners' club and Ferrari itself. So it starts where the owners' club stops, with the 360 Modena, and ends before Ferrari's own series starts, with the non-Evo 488. All cars are so-called 'Challenge' cars and designed to race in that series.
