GWM P Series 2,0 LTD 4X4 Auto

On the back of impressive market inroads for this budget-friendly double-cab, GWM has upped the ante by introducing a more rugged P-Series LTD derivative. Can its competence match its stronger presence?

GWM's (Great Wall Motors) legacy in the South Africa market is arguably the most consistent of the Chinese car makers that have, to date, plied their respective trades here. While some have since exited the market; together with its SUV focused division, Haval - by reputation and market share - the GWM brand has instead all but been established as a household name in South Africa.

Makers of the rugged and affordable Steed 5 bakkie, GWM's most significant moment arrived with the introduction of its vastly more refined P Series double-cab. Indeed, in 2021, the then-new bakkie acquitted itself admirably against seasoned rivals in our November 2021 Bakkie Shootout issue. The 2,0 TD LT 4x4 AT made a strong case for itself as a value packed, competent double-cab with a standard specification list so extensive that it proved impossible to ignore.
