Foundation stone laid for Ambala Cantonment airport

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for a domestic airport in Ambala Cantonment, emphasising its potential to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth. This civil enclave, designated under the UDAN scheme, will occupy 20 acres adjacent to the Air Force Station.

Khattar highlighted the airport's significance in improving connectivity within Haryana and with neighbouring states, predicting a positive impact on economic development. He further noted its role as a complementary facility to Chandigarh airport. The airport will utilise the existing runway at Ambala Cantonment Airport Station for commercial aircraft landings, with the Union Ministry of Defence granting permission for civil aviation use and allocating 20 acres of land. The Haryana government provided Rs 133 crore for this purpose.
