In January this year Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the MV Gangal Vilas, which embarked on a 51-day river cruise that is among the world's longest. He also inaugurated a tent city for tourists and laid foundation stone for a series of inland waterways projects worth Rs.1,000 crore. The projects will not only bolster cruise tourism in India, but will also bring development and employment opportunities to cities established on the banks of the Ganga.
