The Princess of Wales is known around the world for her style, and her new look turned heads last week – but not just because of a different hairdo.
Kate appeared on duty with two fingers of her right hand strapped up, after injuring herself on her children’s trampoline.
Making her first visit to a men’s prison, the Princess was at HMP High Down near Sutton, Surrey, to hear how some of its 1,126 inmates are overcoming drug and alcohol addiction, as part of her work as patron of the Forward Trust.
Wearing a chic dark-blue Alexander McQueen trouser suit and heels, she also sported a new wavy and layered haircut and a favourite pendant bearing the initials of her children, Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis.
BOUNCING AROUND
She laughed off her minor injury, explaining: “My own fault. I was jumping around on the trampoline.” Pointing to the bandage, she added: “I did put it on just to keep it safe.”
Kensington Palace later said the Princess had suffered “a small injury – nothing serious”.
Earlier this year, Kate revealed that one of the secrets to her fitness routine was “jumping on the trampoline with my children before school”.
Her visit behind bars came ahead of Addiction Awareness Week, which takes place from 28 October to 4 November.
This year’s theme is Everyone Knows Someone, which aims to highlight how many people are affected by the issue.
Kate privately met four inmates to hear their stories, telling them she believed addiction was not a choice. A royal source said she had found the conversation “incredibly inspirational”.
