What led to the pair's shocking split
Joe Jonas didn’t hold back when performing with the Jonas Brothers on Sept. 9 at Dodgers Stadium. “It’s been a rough week,” Jonas — who ended his marriage to Sophie Turner four days earlier — told the crowd. “Thank you everyone for your love and support. Me and my family love you guys.”
Since filing for divorce, rumors have swirled about what caused the singer, 34, and the Game of Thrones alum, 27, to part ways. While some reports blamed Turner’s partying (she was photographed in a bar in England the weekend before their split), multiple sources tell Us that the stars’ “hectic schedules” caused mounting tension over the last six months. With Turner in the U.K. filming the upcoming ITV show Joan and Jonas “always gone” and now on the road touring, “phone calls became less frequent, text messages seemed more forced and the spark they once had seemed to fizzle,” one source says of the pair, adding that their lingering issues came to a head. “They had a huge argument,” the source continues. “It was about their insane schedules that caused them to grow apart.”
Though the first source insists that Jonas is “heartbroken,” a second source hints that the singer — who was seen taking the couple’s two daughters to breakfast amid reports that he’s been their primary caretaker — might be trying to “spin” the split in his favor. “Joe’s obsessed with his image,” warns the second source, claiming that Jonas is known to have a “wandering eye.” Adds the source: “Joe’s focused on a PR campaign to make sure that he comes out looking like the good guy.”
