This beautiful concept was introduced to me few years back when I was working with a South African venture in India. One of their Company Values was 'Live Ubuntu' and I received this Value Award 'Live Ubuntu' in the year 2007 for my initiatives of care and compassion for others at work. Since then, this philosophy has been close to my heart and it chose to become the purpose of this lifetime.
'Living Ubuntu' is essentially about togetherness and oneness to humanity and becoming aware of the fact how one's action has an impact on others and on the society. We all are one.
With this thought, let me share my experience of the most challenging days of my life when I felt this oneness and inspite of all the odds, I could continue being in the space of love and gratitude.
In the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, people were left with horrific memories of losing their loved ones. There was chaos everywhere doctors, nurses, hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, medicines were not available anywhere.
My husband is a patient of Lung Sarcoidosis from past few years and somewhere we knew in our hearts, if he gets contracted with Covid, it may be fatal for him. Inspite of taking all precautionary measures in April 2021, he got Covid on the 5th day of my Covid infection. He started having sore throat, high fever and cough. Things were chaotic everywhere and we couldn't step outside our home. We consulted doctors online and started the medication, but nothing provided him any relief.
I believed that we were just one among those many, who may be going through the worst phase of their lives. I kept calm. Rather than quoting every single incident that happened, I would prefer to write the positive aspects here else we will keep getting goose bumps in every sentence. All I can say is that Fear and anxiety used to come every moment then and I had the courage to lovingly send them away with the feelings of positivity, hope and oneness.
