Book your tickets as BBC1 invites us to step on board the high-stakes train journey at the centre of much-anticipated new suspense thriller Nightsleeper.
Written by Nick Leather (The Control Room), the six-part story unfolds in real time and begins when off-duty police officer Joe Roag (played by Peaky Blinders star Joe Cole) hops on the Heart of Britain, an overnight service between Glasgow and London.
However, before he and his fellow passengers can get comfortable, the train is ‘hackjacked’ by cyberterrorists who hold them all hostage as they hurtle south towards what could be its final destination.
Meanwhile, at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) in London, acting technical director Abby Aysgarth (The Light in the Hall’s Alexandra Roach) and her team receive a chilling message from a mysterious figure called ‘The Driver’, who threatens to set the sleeper service on a deadly collision course if their demands are not met.
As copper Joe finds himself teaming up with stranger Abby in a desperate race against the clock, who around them can they really trust, especially when The Driver always seems one step ahead?
The cast list includes David Threlfall (Shameless) as Abby’s mentor and cybersecurity expert Paul Peveril, Sharon Small (London Kills) as Transport Secretary Liz Draycott and Sharon Rooney (Finding Alice) as railway employee Yasmin Brown.
Here, stars Joe, 35, and Alexandra, 37, tell TV Times why viewers are set to be on the edge of their seats…
