ART IS AN EXTREMELY SATURATED FIELD. Some do it for a living, and others simply create for the satisfaction and joy that it brings. Cardin Phua is a 32-year-old creative based in Kuala Lumpur. He takes on videography projects from time to time. On the side, he crafts alien-esque 3D sculptures made from steel and acrylic. The consistent combination of blue and silver in his futuristic filament creation makes it a recognisable style.
Under his creative project he calls Lone Wolf & Club, Phua continues to explore his creativity in this new facet within the artistic realm.
You’re a videographer by day. Can you share with me more about your day-to-day as a videographer?
To be honest, my day-to-day activities aren’t particularly tied to videography. I also am not one to regularly watch films, or anything related to it. My approach is more fluid. I jot down ideas if they come to me, and I often find myself exploring random topics online. However, I do keep an eye out for potential collaborations down the line.
On the side, you’re a designer. What led you to begin experimenting with this creative side?
