Rustic RETREAT

Stacey and Guy Sibley's chic cabin is a perfect oasis nestled in the countryside

When looking for a country haven to retreat to, interior designers Stacey and Guy Sibley didn’t have to venture too far from home. ‘We are lucky to be based in Cornwall, but the coastal areas can get busy in summer. We wanted somewhere that would be an investment but also a place we could escape to with friends and family, far from the crowds,’ explains Stacey.

The search took some time, but eventually the couple found a rustic wooden cabin with three bedrooms on Bodmin Moor that ticked all their boxes. ‘We fell in love with it because it was a wooden cabin in a great location,’ Stacey recalls.

Much of the appeal was that the property was located away from the busy coast. ‘It’s set in lovely countryside and just 20 minutes from the beach,’ says Stacey. ‘There’s no shortage of things to explore.’

Built as part of a small holiday village more than 10 years ago, the cabin was in need of a facelift, and Stacey and Guy were delighted to be able to put their stamp on it. ‘We set out to give it a modern country look that’s a little eclectic with a relaxed feel,’ says Stacey. ‘We wanted that relaxed, modern country feel, and looked to American interior designers, as they do that so well.’
