I think Frank said it best when he said to us, 'This is the band that people always talk about starting but have never had the time'. "...We've actually done it." Tucker Rule smiles as these words leave his lips, and the rest of his L.S. Dunes bandmates nod and smile in agreement, because they know it's absolutely true. A project that Tucker, guitarists Frank lero and Travis Stever, vocalist Anthony Green and bassist Tim Payne will have always hoped could be a reality but never thought could actually be possible. A band that is there for complete unbridled expression with no limit, barrier or deadline in place. An outlet where they can forget every other responsibility or commitment for just a moment, in the name of art.
So often, such a band is a pipedream, a conversation backstage, a late-night promise that never gets past the early stages. But this is real, and it feels brilliant. "Here's the thing," Frank picks up.
"You tour so much that it becomes such an incestuous community. You tour with everyone, know everyone, and will always be around everyone. And you always say, 'We should do something,' but it never comes to fruition. So I guess this was the first time a catalyst was in place, and we had the time to consider it.
"But if you look at us as a collective of artists, you can see how we all got into this in the same way and for the same reason. There was no other fucking path for us. You either breathe or you die. Well, we either fucking play music and make art, or we die. That's it.
