When we hear of artists joining forces to create a musical supergroup, there can be a lot of pressure for great results.

Sometimes that pressure can be self-induced while other times it can be the result of external forces. Handling that pressure can be even more of a challenge, but for the members of BPM, Brian Bromberg, Paul Brown and Michael Paulo, their decision to collaborate was pressure free. Fresh off the release of their debut album entitled "Seriously," BPM talked with Smooth Jazz Magazine to discuss the origins of the group, along with the hopes of the group and the project.

SJM: What are your thoughts as the album's release approaches?

Paul: We're all very excited about it. We put our heart and souls into it.

We have three-plus decades of experience in this genre and we played to our strengths when it comes to this record. In making this album we didn't want to have any restraints on what we produced, we just wanted to make the best possible record we could make and have a great time doing it with people that we love and respect.

Brian: Its been a wonderful experience because number 1 we're all friends and we get along great. The chemistry we have on stage and in the studio is amazing. Secondly, the music was great and how we created the songs and the project was really refreshing for me. It was cool to be a part of something that's bigger than me, that had other voices and input and vibes. I'm not used to that so to be part of a team was very rewarding for me.

Michael: For me it was definitely an honor to be a part of this. As Paul stated we have been playing together for years and our chemistry is great so when he asked me to join, it got me excited to play music again. Some may not know that I got out of the music side and focused more on the business side of things as of late. So playing with Paul and Brian and playing new music is exciting to me. It relit the fire for me to play live again as an artist.
