HASHTAG United boss Jay Devereux has challenged England goalkeeping sensation Ted Curd to follow in Phil Foden's footsteps by making a name for himself at the Under-17 World Cup.

GO AND PHIL YOUR BOOTS, TED!

The Tags goalkeeper, who joined on loan from Chelsea in September, is looking to help England to win the tournament - which kicked off on Friday for the second time in six years as they go head-to-head with New Caledonia, Iran and Brazil in Group C.

Foden, a five-time Premier Leaguer winner with Manchester City, burst onto the international scene when he fired the Three Lions to glory in 2017, when he bagged a brace in a 5-2 victory over Spain in the final at Kolkata.

Fellow England stars Marc Guehi, Jadon Sancho, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Emile Smith Rowe, Morgan Gibbs-White and Conor Gallagher were also in the squad - managed by current Nottingham Forest chief Steve Cooper.
