PM says Tata-Airbus unit in Vadodara to give new direction to India-Spain ties
India gets its 1st private military aircraft facility

Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and Pedro Sanchez, President of the Government of Spain, inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara on Monday, marking India's first private facility to build military planes, where C-295 aircraft will be produced.

Noting that the partnership between India and Spain is finding a new direction, Modi said the project would not only strengthen relations between the two nations but also give momentum to the mission of "Make in India, Make for the World." He conveyed his best wishes to the Airbus and Tata teams and paid tribute to the late Ratan Tata.

The Airbus C-295 is a medium tactical transport aircraft designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA, which is now part of the European multinational Airbus Defence and Space division. The C-295 can also be used for medical evacuations, disaster response, and maritime patrol duties.

Modi and Sanchez toured the exhibition showcased during the facility launch. The C-295 aircraft factory reflects the new work culture of New India, Modi said, adding that India's speed from idea to execution can be witnessed at the factory, whose foundation stone was laid in October 2022.
