Long and painful journey to apology over Ella's death'

The mother of a schoolgirl killed by air pollution yesterday said she has accepted a government apology for her little girl's death.

But she said it had been a "long and painful journey" since tragic nine-year-old Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah passed away in 2013.

Ella suffered a fatal asthma attack after being exposed to traffic pollution near her home in Lewisham, South East London - and became the first person to have air pollution listed as a cause of death at a UK inquest.

Mum Rosamund acts as an administrator for Ella's estate, which sued the government's Transport, Health and Social Care and Environment departments for compensation over her "illness and premature death".
