Migration finally falling as Cleverly says Labour will ‘open our borders'
Daily Express
|August 23, 2024
THE Labour Government will "open our borders" just as growing evidence suggests net migration is finally falling, James Cleverly warns.
The Shadow Home Secretary sounded the alarm as Home Office figures revealed 286,382 work visas were issued in the year to June under the Tories -11% down year-on-year.
The number of health and social care visas dubbed a backdoor route into Britain fell 26% to 89,085, with a sharp drop of 81% for the period April to June alone, coinciding with a ban on dependants.
Analysts predicted the reforms introduced under ex-PM Rishi Sunak will lead to a fall in net migration, which had hit record highs.
