US investigates leak of classified Iran files

Documents on Israel's attack plan are posted online

THE US has launched a probe into the leaking of classified documents describing its assessment of Israel's plans to attack Iran.

The top-secret files are said to describe satellite imagery of Israel moving military assets in preparation for a response to Iran's ballistic missile attack on October 1.

Two were published on Friday on an Iranian-aligned Telegram social media account.

Separately, it has been reported that the UK may tacitly support the plan to strike back in a measured fashion - though this has not been made public. Instead, Britain has stuck to the line that Israel has the right to defend itself.

The leaking of the documents is a major embarrassment for the White House.
