Panic and tears over breakdown in Channel tunnel

FRIGHTENED passengers yesterday told of their nightmare after they were stranded in the Channel Tunnel for more than five hours.

Dozens of people were stuck after the Eurotunnel service broke down.

Some suffered panic attacks and were left in tears during Tuesday’s incident, while others had to carry their pet dogs to safety through a service tunnel.

Sarah Fellows, from Birmingham, said the situation felt like something out of a disaster movie.

She added: “You were just walking into the abyss not knowing what was happening. We all had to stay under the sea in this big queue.
