JOE WRIGHT reckons Derek McInnes doesn’t get the credit he deserves for totally transforming Kilmarnock into European contenders.
Kilmarnock ace Wright insists his gaffer has worked wonders at Rugby Park since he was appointed manager in January 2022.
McInnes, who was axed by Aberdeen in March 2021 after eight years in charge, guided Killie to the Championship crown, kept them in the top flight last term and are now in fourth spot and chasing European qualification.
Killie face Livingston at home tonight as they strive to strengthen their grip on fourth, with January recruit Kevin van Veen unlikely to start, although McInnes won’t rule it out as he knows the Dutchman’s a special talent.
And Wright admits if they do land a Euro spot it will seem like a trophy given the upward trajectory McInnes has them on.
Wright said: “Does he get enough credit? Probably not, no.
