THE mum of a boy who was kicked in the head by a man at an amateur football match says her son could have died.
Samuel McCarte, 14, and his friend were assaulted by up to 15 men following the game between Forgewood AFC and Ravenswood AFC at St Ambrose High School in Coatbridge on Sunday night.
The schoolboy and his friends had been playing football nearby when they got involved in a row with a number of Forgewood players after the final whistle.
A fight erupted between the two groups before the Coatbridge High School boy was dragged to the ground and kicked in the head by a man in football boots.
Police Scotland has launched an investigation after footage of the incident was shared online.
