A SCOTS aid worker broke down in tears after witnessing the hunger emergency in Zambia.

A series of "climate shocks", including the worst drought in 40 years, have seen harvests fail for two years in a row.

Aisling Gallagher, of the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF), has visited the African nation up to a dozen times over a decade but never seen a crisis on this scale, with hundreds queuing for rations.
