DOCTORS last night praised the King for making public his cancer diagnosis, hoping it will encourage others to seek early treatment for signs of the deadly disease.
As well-wishers sent the monarch messages of support and prayers after the shock news, Buckingham Palace revealed he was diagnosed while in hospital for an enlarged prostate.
It said the 75-year-old yesterday started immediate treatment and is to miss a series of public engagements but insisted he is feeling positive about the outcome.
He also apologised for missing out on his official duties and thanked doctors for their swift diagnosis.
Camilla will continue with her engagements while supporting her husband as he battles the disease.
And Prince Harry, who has been estranged from the Royal Family since he and wife Meghan quit their roles in 2020, is due to fly back to Britain to see the King, possibly as early Monday.
Royal Society of Medicine's GP section president Dr Jay Verma wished Charles a speedy recovery and HOME TRIP said: "We would like to Prince Harry thank His Majesty for using his unique position in highlighting how cancer is indiscriminate in who it affects and that there should be no shame or embarrassment in coming forward to seek help and advice." Catch Up With Cancer campaign founder Professor Pat Price added: "In this worrying time, our hearts go out to the King and his family.
"The outpouring of well-wishes from millions of people reflects the collective concern we all share.
