Maresca tips Delap to be major England star

LIAM DELAP has been backed to become an "important player" for England.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca gave the Ipswich striker a glowing reference before the clubs clash at Portman Road tonight.

The Blues were one of the clubs who tracked Delap before his £15m move from Manchester City last summer.

His six goals and performances for the Tractor Boys this season have only seen interest grow in the England Under-21s hitman.

But despite Delap's step back in his career after quitting the Etihad, it would appear his gamble has paid off because he has been able to play regularly and looks a big prospect again.
