Looking at Tests through prism of T20 doesn't work

Jasprit Bumrah has hit eight sixes in Tests. The great Don Bradman hit six sixes in 52 Tests in a career spanning 20 years.

Another set of stats tell an interesting story. Ten years back South Africa were trying to avoid defeat on a Day 5 pitch at the Kotla. They played out 143.1 overs, scoring 143. Hamish Amla made 25 off 244 balls, AB de Villiers 43 in 297. Together they survived 90.1 overs, more than a full day of cricket. R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bowled 96 overs between them and even Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara had a bowl.

Compare this with India's Mumbai Test against New Zealand that lasted two-and-a-half days. India were dismissed in 29.1 overs on Day 3.

Hopefully, the pain of India's series loss would have subsided. But the scar is a permanent tattoo that will stay because we lost at home, that too 3-0, to unfancied New Zealand, with Indian batters failing to spin that was far from lethal.

The message from Mumbai is cricket has moved, players' minds are wired differently and the game has changed. Forever.
