Tragic Kirsty 'strangled' in holiday hotel

THE family of a young Irish woman killed while on holiday in Spain have released this picture of her.

The first image of tragic Kirsty Ward, 36, from Dublin was released yesterday by her relatives, who have now appealed for privacy as they come to terms with her death.

Spanish police believe Ms Ward, who was from Dundrum, South Co Dublin, was strangled with a ligature by a man known to her while on holiday in Salou.

Ms Ward's relatives said the "family will not be making any further comment or statements and ask for privacy during this distressing time".

A garda liaison officer has been appointed to Ms Ward's family and the Department of Foreign Affairs is also liaising with them.
