Hospital concrete problem is like a ticking timebomb'

BOSSES at two Greater Manchester hospitals with dangerous crumbling concrete have assured that 'patient and staff safety is paramount! Both Salford Royal and Royal Oldham hospitals have been confirmed to contain reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete - RAAC - in their roofing.

They were two of seven hospital buildings across the north west dubbed the worst region in the country for roofs built with the collapse-prone concrete.

The lightweight, cheaper form of concrete has been dubbed a 'ticking time bomb' by one NHS chief executive.
