Chris Slater find out what residents think of the neighbourhood where houses sell faster than anywhere else in Greater Manchester

ANDY has lived on Randolph Street in Levenshulme for the past three years.

He and his partner and are renting as they save up enough money to buy their own place.

However, if they did want to purchase one where they currently live, they might have a battle on their hands, and would have to act fast.

As houses on the unassuming terraced street sell quicker than anywhere else in Greater Manchester.

Properties, which sell for an average of £180,900, get snapped up by buyers within just 15 days on average.

This is nine times faster than the national average, according to Upstix's database of live UK property data.

Levenshulme has been dubbed one of the city's most 'up and coming' areas in recent years with Stockport Road developing a reputation as a hypertrendy food-and-drink destination.

However, that has sparked concerns amongst some long-time residents regarding 'gentrification.' The Manchester Evening News paid a visit to Randolph Street, just off Matthews Lane and Mayford Road, close to the A6 Stockport Road.

And there was a degree of puzzlement among locals about what made that particular street so coveted.

Though residents said it likely reflects the area's growing reputation, coupled with good transport links and crucially, affordability of the houses, that made it so desirable.

Andy, 28, works in Longsight, so the location is very convenient for him.

The street is 'not the most pleasant' he said.

But a house on the street recently went on the market and sold 'really, really fast' he added.

"I saw it on Rightmove and the next thing it was sold" he said. "But it did have an extension, and it did look lovely inside.
