Baby Reindeer sees calls soar to stalking hotline

CALLS to a national stalking hotline jumped by 26 per cent when the controversial TV drama Baby Reindeer was streamed.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust saw calls increase from 660 in March to 832 last month when the Netflix mini-series was made available.

Baby Reindeer, watched by 65 million people worldwide, is a dramatised account of the trauma of its writer and star, Richard Gadd, who claimed he suffered at the hands of a woman stalker.

Around 13 per cent of victims seeking support from the personal safety charity and leading authority on stalking are male, with around 17 per cent of perpetrators female.
