Parents can't afford Christmas presents

SIX out of 10 parents are worried about the cost of buying presents for their children this Christmas.
And many expect to be pushed into debt so their youngsters will not be disappointed.
The pressure on family finances caused by the cost-of-living crisis is laid bare in exclusive Ipsos polling.
Almost half of all parents were concerned about how they would explain to their children "why Father Chriswon't tmas have brought them everything they asked for".
Nearly three-quarters (73 per cent) said the expectations on how much money parents should spend is now "out of control".
Sixty-two per cent said they were concerned about their "ability to afford presents". And 39 per cent said they planned to buy at least one second-hand gift.
